WSBF Live Session video

A couple months ago, Alan and I went up to Clemson to play some songs on the radio.  That set was broadcast live, on the radio and campus tv.  Now, you can watch the whole thing.

I’m interested to hear which ones you like most.  Let us know.

Big thanks to Jordan and Chris (they’re in a band we like, too) and the rest of the crew at WSBF and CTV.

Last night was interesting.  We played with Steven Fiore and his band at The Hippodrome in Charleston, SC.  It was a most notable experience…

Have you been to a Lovely Few show?

If not, this weekend in Charleston would be a great first!  First off, we have a solid 45 minutes or so of music planned, so you should hear a good array of stuff (though, admittedly, mostly new).  Second, we’re opening for our good friend Steven Fiore, who is performing with a full band.  This is a rare treat.  Finally, we’ll be in Charleston’s Hippodrome, formerly home to IMAX theater, so I hear.  There’s a bar there, and a great theater in which to listen.

So come on out.  Doors open at 8, music at 8:30.  I hear there’s a little reception to follow.

I just hung up posters at New Brookland while Lovedrug did their soundcheck.

Yes.  Lovedrug.  It was great.

Whether you’re there tonight or not, please remember that we have a very interesting show planned for you tomorrow night.  That’s Monday, March 26.  Doors are at 7 and it only costs $5.  Well, if you’re under the age of 21 it costs $8, but honestly I can’t think of why any of you yipper snappers would want to see us.  We’re old.  And weird.  And probably your teacher.

But if you’re 21 and up, you get it.

Seriously though, tomorrow is going to get weird.  We are starting the set with one of our heaviest numbers, introducing a new song that has a glitch-dance section, AND we’re in between chamber-pop wonder Seashell Radio and Double Tongue.  You don’t even have to follow the hyperlinks, the names say it all.

Still, we’d love to see you there if for no other reason than because it’s going to be Monday night and everyone could use a good start to their week.

Sorry for the technical issues earlier.  We will re-post the correct final photoset for The Orionids recording later.

We're playing with Seashell Radio this Monday night.

The Tucson, AZ, band asked us to join them this Monday night here in town.  We were honored to be asked to play with this chamber-pop group featuring members of Calexico.  While the connection is loose (i.e. they’re not Americana, nor are they fronted by the guy who was on “Wait Wait” this past weekend), it’s there, and as my wife says “You don’t say no to Calexico.”

Seashell is a relatively new group doing some very fun music.  I hear Kopecky and Rocketboys .  This weekend is full of good music, and Monday nights can be tough, but we’d really love to see you out.  Come support traveling musicians so more groups will want to come to the Columbia area.  Plus, we still have a good deal of comfortable and stylish t-shirts we need you wear this fine spring.

Remember, you don’t say no to seashell radio.

Thanks guys.

@thelovelyfew are crushing it into the future! (Taken with Instagram at The Midnight Rooster)

when I was in Tigerbot Hesh, we played with Jump Little Children once at a show at the Russell House.  Matt Bivins told me then that it’s not a good show unless you leave the stage sweating.  well last night I left the stage sweating… we’ll say it was caused by a mix of a good show, hot lighting, and a warm SC winter.

special thanks to everyone who made this possible, especially Dylan, Ben, and Jeremy. it was our best night in Hartsville in a while.
